I've posted here and there since last week so for the most part you're caught up on my projects and where I am with the October Challenge. But some things have happened. Some possible game changers.
So this coming weekend is the Big Annual Family Camping Trip. I've mentioned it before. My parents started this annual camping weekend sometime in the 70s and it's been yearly since. I've only missed a few because of shows or other obligations. But in the last couple years I said to myself I will NOT miss this!! Even taking a couple extra days off work to elongate the trip. (My parents have started going down on Tuesday, so it's practically a week for them.) This year my plans were to go down Wednesday after work, theonlyboyfriend would meet us down there Friday morning and all would be great. However.
Theonlycat is sick. I mentioned her in my post last week. She was throwing up a LOT. That finally subsided but then she stopped eating. And lost weight. And now she's drinking twice as much water as normal and peeing constantly. I rushed her to the vet as soon as I could, but I already knew what this was. Blood work revealed my worst fear. Kidney failure. The vet seems kind of optimistic because everything else is great with her heath. We're both hoping we got this early enough we can get her healthy and she can keep going for months or years yet to come. Baby girl is 11, so she is far from old for a cat.
So I have to take her back to the vet tomorrow morning and drop her off until Saturday morning. They will get an IV going and hydrate her and pump her up with antibiotics, etc. And we see from there. So my camping trip will just be a day trip if that. I'm debating if I want to visit her while she's at the vet or not. I mean, when she's there, she ignores me anyway because she's so mad to be at the vet, so I don't know how much it will comfort her. And, I can't lie, I don't know if I can see her with the tubes and everything.
Sure I'm disappointed about not getting this weekend I wanted so badly, but I would do anything for my little buddy so that's just where it is right now. Besides, everything I've looked forward to at all in the last year blew up in my face so it was pretty much to be expected.
But no matter what I'll do everything I can for this girl. My buddy. My best friend.
