The Monkees

I so rarely get outwardly giddy or truly jump-up-and-down excited.  But I cannot deny when the Monkees walked out onto the stage this past Friday night, I turned into a 12 year old girl.  I squealed and jumped up and down clapping my hands for roughly 2 hours.  They still make my heart race.  J

They’re certainly looking their age, but they’re in their 60’s For Pete's Sake.

Davey opened by claiming to be Davey’s father.  Peter said “You know the Monkees are in town when you see a tour bus going 45 mph in the fast lane with the left turn signal on.
But all that aside, they still rocked!  They were every bit as energetic, fun and awesome as ever.  Their music is just so inocent and fun.  (Partly because they were bound by contract to never discuss or sing about anything that could be considered controversial.)  But they were just good ol' goofy fun and their music was just perfect.

When the concert was over, the older ladies sitting behind us said “ok you have GOT to tell us how you know ALL the words to all their songs.  You’re too young for that!”  I’m a Monkees fan through and through.
I didn’t get to hear my favorite song, but they played so many I barely noticed.  They played video clips from their TV show, movies, and commercials, etc on the giant screen behind them throughout the concert so THAT was cool to see.

All in all it was one of the best concerts I’ve been to and even now 2 days later I’m STILL on a high from seeing them.  And I’m still hopelessly swoon-y over Peter Tork.
