A Lost Art

So, as some of you may know, I've kind of rekindled an old friendship in the last couple of years.  My very best friend from childhood and I are getting close once again.  We've known each other since we were 4 and 5 years old.  I have to say it's very refreshing to see that we've both changed so much, but still love each other like we do.  At her previous job the company moved her to their main office in the building right across the street from my office!  Lunches were a must.  Sadly she was laid off a couple months back, so lunches are less frequent.

Anyway, in one of my first posts I'd mentioned a box 'o' childhood my mom had given me from their basement.  (The good box with happy things.)  In that was all of these letters we'd sent each other when she moved away from my neighborhood and to a new school.  (really only a 10 minutes drive, but when you're 12 that's forever away)  I read through them all and just laughed and cried.  I called her up to meet for lunch and showed them to her, along with the pictures she drew me, etc.  She'd lost all the things I'd given her along with everything from her childhood in a fire at her parents' house a couple years ago.  So I think this meant a lot to her to see these things.

Since then, we've decided to revive a lost art.  We're writing each other letters again.  I have to say when I got my first one from her today, I got a little choked up.  I can't wait to sit down and write another one to her.
